Davy's new tune: He and Mrs Jones

Davy Jones and Jessica Pacheco were married Aug. 30.

Davy Jones and Jessica Pacheco were married Aug. 30.

How does a Monkee propose? Over glazed doughnuts.

Davy Jones got the urge to merge in early August, while he and his beloved, Jessica Pacheco, were at Krispy Kreme in Miami.

He needed no “Hot Now” sign to broadcast his own temperature: After dating Pacheco, 32, for three years, the 63-year-old singer asked her to marry him, right there outside Krispy Kreme — then backed up the offer with a diamond eternity-band ring.

They wed three weeks later — Aug. 30 — at her parents’ home in Miami, just 28 guests enjoying the lakeside setting, the cream-and-blue decorations, the big-band music and the “love, live, laugh” theme.

They spent their first night at The Raleigh hotel on South Beach, then jetted to Bali for a honeymoon.

But all that romantic gooey stuff isn’t what made the news.

The National Enquirer reported that Jones’ four daughters — ages 21 to 41 — boycotted the wedding. And that Pacheco, an actress and flamenco dancer who appeared in a Telemundo soap opera, has a history of violence against the former Monkee, who has a home in Indiantown.

In an interview before his Oct. 2 show at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York, Mr. and Mrs. Jones took on the rumors.

“Don’t let the truth get in the way of the news,” Jones quipped. “Our wedding was full of love — with friends of mine there who I’ve known for 40 years.”

His daughters couldn’t come to Florida because they were busy with their families and careers, he said. And as for Jessica’s parents? They’re younger than Davy, but “they don’t see age. All they see is us together.”

Jones himself did see age when he first met Jessica while both were performing in Cinderella.

“She looked like she was 12,” he says. “She came in with her mother.”
The first time Jessica met the animated Jones, she wondered: “What’s the hype?”

But she liked him, so she went online to find out how old he was, then she decided: “Oh, well. I can’t change what I feel.”

That was the third week of December 2006. Jones spent Christmas alone that year, as he has several times before.

Christmas is also Jessica’s birthday, so Jones made his move on Dec. 26 by giving her a black-and-white dress and a matching purse. (She models the dress on jessicapacheco.com.)

Now their lives and careers are joined — Pacheco performed a flamenco number onstage during Jones’ New York show — and Jones says he feels a passion he’s never known before.

“There’s nothing we don’t know about each other,” he says.

When they’re not on the road, they’re at Jones’ Pennsylvania farm with his horses or at their condo in Fort Lauderdale.

And what about that other rumor? Is it true Jessica pushes around the diminutive Davy?

She responds with a well-timed joke: “Only in the bedroom. When he asks for it!”
