The Four Complete Historic Ed Sullivan Shows
Featuring The Beatles and Other Artists
Including the Original Cast from Oliver - 2 x DVD Set

On Sunday Feb 9th 1964, seventy three million Americans tuned in to view The Beatles' first US TV performance on the Ed Sullivan show. Police around the country reported an abnormally low crime rate that evening. Also on that same show was the cast from 'Oliver', which included a young David Jones as the Artful Dodger. Over two years later David was to become a member of The Monkees.

Davy sings 'I'll Do Anything for You' on the show with Georgia Brown, who played Nancy in 'Oliver, and in the show sang 'As Long as He Needs Me'. The shows are in glorious black and white and come complete with original commercials from that time.

The four shows on this 2 x DVD set are - Sun Feb 9 1964, Sun Feb 16 1964, Sun Feb 23 1964 and Sun Sep 12 1965, The Beatles' last appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. This is a very rare and must have item for any Davy fan's collection. It is nice that these rare shows have survived, unlike some of the Top of the Pops shows that are lost forever, including rare appearances by The Monkees and other artists. Several years ago some guy at the BBC, on a very high salary, decided to save some money and reuse a large proportion of the Top of the Pops tapes that were lying around, and tape over the top of them. In the process this sadly destroyed a lot of very rare footage. That is why I say these shows are very rare indeed to have survived in the condition they are in, and on Feb 9th 2004 it will be 40 years ago when The Beatles and Davy appeared on these memorable shows.

Released in 2003 as a limited edition in the USA by Sofa Entertainment through edsullivan.com - Cat No A20035, Region 1. This DVD set is also released in the UK, Region 2, and sells for £19.99.

These are the Ed Sullivan Shows that launched the British invasion. So kick back on your sofa, push play and float down stream. Each show is approx 1 hour and is an absolute must for all true Davy fans. A must buy item for your collection.
