During October 2003, Rhino in the US released more Monkee mayhem by releasing the complete Second Season of the TV episodes on a 5 DVD Box Set, using the same replica of a 60's record player. It features a superb booklet and the 5 discs housed in replica record sleeves.

Disc 1 Episodes 33-38 - has trivia for each episode and 'Play Songs Only'. It has a replica of 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' US Colgems front cover.

Disc 2 - Episodes 39-44 - replica back cover of US Colgems 'It's Nice to be With You'/'D W Washburn'. This has commentary by Davy on 'Hitting the High Seas'.

Disc 3 - Episodes 45-50 - is a replica of 'Daydream Believer' (close-up shot) sleeve and has commentary by both Peter and Mike on Episode 48 'Fairy Tale'.

Disc 4 - Episodes 51-56 - has front cover from 'D W Washburn' Colgems 45 and features commentary by Peter on episodes 52, 'Devil and Peter Tork' and 55 'Monkees Mind Their Manor' (and episode that Peter also directed). Episode 54, Monkees in Paris, has commentary by Bob Rafelson.

Disc 5 - Episodes 57 & 58 is a replica of Daydream Believer Colgems 45 featuring the last 2 episodes Commentary by Mike on 'Monkees Blow their Minds', and commentary by Micky on Episode 58 'Mijacogeo - Frodis Caper'.

The picture quality on these episodes is sharp and clear, although on the 'Fairy Tale' episode the tape obviously has a bit of wear and tear on it.

Rhino has included as extras 2 sketches from 1969 that features The Monkees minus Peter - a news reel clip featuring The Monkees and the 1969 TV Special 33 1/2 Revolutions Per Monkee, which includes commentaries from both Micky and a separate one from Brian Auger who guest starred in the special with Julie Driscoll. There is also an interview from Gerry Sheppard, Editor of the TV episodes, a photo gallery and trivia for each episode.

This DVD is a superb item and along with Season 1 includes all the TV episodes, and special. As Rhino released 'Head' on DVD a few years back, this is everything on DVD from Rhino. Rhino have done a superb job, not only by releasing these items, but also including a few episodes in the 2nd Season featuring Kellogg's commercials.

Back in the early 80s Rhino started to release Monkee records after buying the complete Monkees back catalogue from Arista, released all the original albums with extra unreleased tracks and 3 volumes of 'Missing Links'.

So, a BIG THANK YOU to Rhino for all their hard work over the years, and making this material available to all Monkee fans. Interesting to note that when Rhino released the 58 Episodes on video the box set contained 21 video tapes. Now the new technology of DVD makes it much easier to view these TV episodes, and holds much more material. Season 1 and 2 on DVD by Rhino - buy them now just in case they become deleted. Two superb items for your collection - try them, buy them!
